Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells
Switch up your holiday shows with “Junie B. Jones in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells,” a youthful performance with plenty of young Minneapolis talents. The Youth Performance Company’s latest show is a sassy spin on Secret Santas, gift giving and the true meaning behind holiday celebrations. The youth theater company, now in its 27th season, develops the skills of young actors, singers and dancers.

A Starry Night gala
Fashion Group International of Minneapolis/St. Paul is throwing its annual gala, featuring next year’s fresh fashion trends. This year, North Loop menswear boutique MartinPatrick3 is presenting with “Shop Girls” host Allison Kaplan moderating. The gala will feature a spring and summer 2016 trends preview, diner with a champagne toast and a fundraiser for Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative’s Families Moving Forward program.

Indeed on Ice
Indeed Brewing Company is bringing a little Northeast Minneapolis to downtown Minneapolis with its Indeed on Ice event at The Depot. The popular brewing company is throwing the ice skating party to feature its Stir Crazy Winter Ale. Beer fans can skate at The Depot, sip a beer and enjoy music from DJ Shannon Blowtorch. The Depot offers a $7 skate rental.

The winter festival of Minneapolis is taking over Loring Park this season with an outdoor skating rink, a city-focused market and plenty of local treats. This year’s free Holidazzle festival will feature visits Santa Claus, concerts, classic holiday films, themed days and a Holiday Minnstameets gallery. The rink, a collaboration with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, will be free. Holidazzle is open from 5-9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekends until Sunday, Dec. 20.

Winter Solstice Celebration
The American Swedish Institute is celebrating the longest night of the year with its own style of festivities. For the cost of a regular admission, ASI patrons can enjoy a Winter Solstice Celebration featuring bonfires, Scandinavian-inspired s’mores and take their owner tours of Turnblad Mansion’s seasonal exhibits. The museum’s restaurant, FIKA, will also be serving up treats later than usual with glogg or Swedish mulled wine and more.

Art & Soul Holiday Show
You may not have to go far to find your holiday gifts this year thanks to the Art & Soul Holiday Show. The arts and crafts fair is located right in the IDS Center this year with a little bit of everything for sale, from pottery to tie dye, throw pillows to vintage goods. The show runs Dec. 9-11 from 11a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 12 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. There will also be an adults-only party on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 6-9 p.m.

Little Box Sauna
Little Box Sauna, the 612 Sauna Society and The Musicant Group are bringing a sauna to downtown Minneapolis. Downtown workers can blow off a little steam and enjoy weekly sauna sessions, which occur at the Piazza on the Mall. Roughly 1.5-hour sessions are free and open to the public, though an online reservation is recommended. During the Little Box Sauna’s time on Nicollet mall, each Friday will have a little extra going on, from camp fires to live music.

Casket Arts is kicking off its new Northeast Minneapolis tradition this holiday season with its Holiday Marketplace. The craft fair-style market will have more than 40 vendors selling their jewelry, prints and other gifts for whatever holiday you plan to celebrate. Holiday Marketplace also features live music all day and treats from Cookie Cart, Groveland Confections and Mojo Coffee Gallery.
